October
20,
2015,
two
movements
of
his
String
Quartet
were
played
in
concert
by
the
Claudel-
Caminex
Quartet
at
“l’Eglise
de
Notre-Dame-des-Prairies”.
Annie
Parent,
the
group’s
violist,
expressed
the
following
opinion:
«
This
quartet
is
easy
to
listen
to
and
pleasant
to
play,
with
beautiful
colors
and
the
writing going in surprising directions. »
In
his
catalogue
are
vocal
works
(3
Cantatas
on
the
immortal
words
of
:
Jesus,
Buddha,
Ramakrishna),
chamber
music
and
orchestral
music
(including
a
Flute
Concerto
and
two
Piano
Concertos).
He
favors
melody and counterpoint, and aims at concision to never abuse the patience of the listener
.
Eric Martel
Born
in
1953
in
Quebec
city
amidst
a
French-
speaking
family,
his
father
was
a
renowned
expert
in
company
law,
his
mother
a
prolific
writer
who
won
the
Governor
General’s
award
for
her
historical novel “Les chemins d’eau”.
Of
artistic
temperament,
he
dictated
his
first
poem
when
he
was
5
years
old.
Gifted
at
drawing,
he
illustrated
a
children’s
book
of
his
mother
relating
biblical
stories.
He
came
to
music
through
his
passion
for
the
Beatles,
learning
singing,
guitar
and
piano.
He
acquired
foundations
in
classical
music
at
“l’Ecole
normale
de
musique
de
Montréal”.
In
1974
his
novel
“Conrad
l’imaginaire”
was published at “les Editions La Presse”.
He
made
two
trips
to
India,
fascinated
by
its
spirituality.
He
acquired
a
bachelor’s
degree
in
computer
science
at
“l’Université
du
Québec
à
Montréal”
and
earned
a
living
as
programmer
analyst, using his free time to compose music.
